Toronto, ON Power Drop Hub Pilot Sustainable Film Production
City officials identified emissions as a challenge for an industry that spent CAD 2.5 billion in 2021. Power drop hubs were installed at Ashbridges Bay/Woodbine Beach and Sir Casimir Gzowski Park. The site selection process narrowed potential locations based on film permit hotspots. Each hub offers built-in electrical connections for film equipment previously powered by generators. Project leaders estimate an annual emissions reduction of 400 tons based on recent production volumes.
