Telford & Wrekin Council, GB Ministry of Defence Incentive

An October 2022 pilot involved 20 employees at an MoD facility in Donnington. Participants were asked to replace driving commutes with walking or cycling commutes at least 10 times during the program. Active SMiles rewarded employees who met or exceeded this goal with £50 grocery vouchers, thus combining inflation relief and active travel efforts. Council officials are seeking funds to expand the pilot to other employers in 2023.
