The City of Bochum launched an online survey as part of the participatory development of the Smart City Bochum concept. The concept involves using digitization for sustainable urban development and improving the quality of life for all residents. The online survey was created to review the key issues and fields of action for Smart City Bochum and generate suggestions for new ideas.

Over the course of one-month, over 2,500 Bochum residents completed the survey and supplied over 2,000 ideas for Smart City Bochum. According to the results, 95% of respondents considered the topic of digitization to be very important or important for the future viability of the city of Bochum.
