Local officials and community groups created multiple channels for ideas on how to use $2 million in ARPA funds. An online portal allows any resident to suggest projects that benefit the city's three wards. Residents can also submit ideas by calling 311 or texting "pb" to 73224. Eligible projects fit one or more of eight categories including essential worker incentives and healthy childhood environments. A public vote will select projects for implementation starting in late 2022.

The Participatory Budgeting Grand Rapids (PBGR) Committee, responsible for overseeing the PBGR initiative, is now accepting community project ideas by way of its idea submission portal at PBGR.org. Ideas that meet specific ARPA funding priorities may be submitted for consideration through May 31.

Nearly two dozen neighborhood and community partners are pledging their support to help engage residents in the Participatory Budgeting Grand Rapids (PBGR) process. The PBGR Committee today announced that it has formed partnerships with non-profits in all three City wards to encourage outreach and engagement.
