London Borough of Waltham Forest, GB conducts multi-front engagement for increased vaccine uptake

A 75-member Citizen's Recovery Panel representative of the borough provided insights into COVID-19 vaccine reluctance. Additional sessions identified altruists, inquirers, and opposers as the groups most concerned about the vaccine. The borough crafts localized messages to these groups using Next Door, Facebook, and Whatsapp. Waltham Forest uses these channels along with volunteer networks to amplify stories of once-reluctant vaccine recipients.

Waterloo, ON boosts the spirits of residents during COVID-19 with the Community Happiness Project

The city's Arts & Culture team asked for audio, video, and photo content from residents over a two-month period. Participants shared their experiences during the pandemic along with messages of hope and optimism for their neighbors. Waterloo connected these messages to QR codes placed on signs throughout the city. An interactive map shows where residents can go to scan codes for positive messages during a difficult time.

Breckland Council has deployed 10 "Abbee" robot vacuum cleaners at its head office to take over hoovering duties for the cleaning staff. The robot vacuum cleaners were provided by Rafters Cleaning during the final stages of exhaustive trials. The Abbee robots allow the cleaning staff to focus on vital tasks during the COVID-19 pandemic such as touch-point sanitation. The Council embraced this modern technology cleaning solution in order to raise standards and improve efficiency.

The Pressure Gauge categorizes 25 city center streets in one of four colors based on real-time foot traffic data. Mobile phone users who allow GPS tracking supply the data for updates every 15 minutes. Local officials pursued this project to improve compliance with social distancing measures while gathering traffic data.

The routine included recommended steps to halt COVID-19 spread including handwashing, social distancing, and mask use. Participants tagged the city's Instagram account, added #KitchenerSafetyDance, and mentioned two friends. Qualifying posts were entered into drawings for gift cards to eateries and grocery stores.

Natal, RN helps residents plan for COVID-19 vaccinations with real-time data portal

The portal rates waiting times for drive-through and walk-up vaccination sites as no line, moderate, or severe. Each site listing includes hours of operation, line maps, populations served, and vaccination types. Portal users find overall stats about Natal's vaccination progress including total shots applied and average wait times at all sites. Municipal officials included an appeal to the Solidary Vaccine food drive and the total weight of donations on the website.
