The Public Meeting Engagement Portal was built by the city's Office of Innovation in the first month of the COVID-19 pandemic. Community members find upcoming meetings and submit comment forms or sign up to speak using virtual meeting software. Charleston expanded the platform's use across 18 city commissions and added customization based on meeting types. An Impact Dashboard tracks usage statistics like engagements by meeting type and monthly engagement back to April 2020.
