Scottsdale, AZ coordinates hand sanitizer and mask logistics for region through water department

Scottsdale, AZ Water Department Hand Sanitizer Masks

The city's water department used its water quality lab to design and produce hand sanitizer. One hundred liters of the in-house sanitizer were distributed to city facilities early in the COVID-19 pandemic. Scottsdale Water shared the sanitizer formula with neighboring cities in response to private supplier shortages. Department staffers also worked with state officials to distribute 40,000 masks to regional utilities for public use.
