Rockhampton, QLD Organic Waste Recycling Collection Pilot

Rockhampton Council will choose 750 households in three areas for organic waste collections. Trial areas will represent diverse property types, street layouts, and demographics to generate data for program development. Randomly selected households receive bins for either food and yard waste or yard-only waste. Council officials hope to divert approximately 50% of organic waste sent to landfills while creating new jobs at processing facilities.
