The borough experienced a 20% increase in flytipping cases from 2020 to 2021. Local officials worked with waste management contractors and Cumbria County Council on lane clean-up blitzes. Project partners also assisted with targeted enforcement efforts near illegal dumping hotspots. #OperationRespect was added to social media posts about the public's role in litter reduction, community beautification events, and bulky waste drop-off locations.
