Plymouth City Council partnered with Crowdfund UK to launch the "CrowdFund Plymouth" campaign. The campaign provides an online platform to crowdfund ideas from local businesses, communities and charities. Whenever a proposed project provides a benefit to the community and receives public support the Council contributes levy funds. If a project raises 25% of its fundraising goal from resident donations, the Council pledges an additional 50% up to a maximum of £20,000.

In its first five years, Plymouth City Council pledged £475,010 to 93 projects through Crowdfund Plymouth. For every £1 spent by the city, residents have donated more than double for an additional £1million in support for communities. As result of the project, Plymouth City Council was named one of the winners of the Engaged Cities 2019 Awards.
