Wellington Regional Council converted over 50 Metlink trolley buses to battery power using a $763,000 grant from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority. This project was conducted as a part of the Council's pledge for a 100% electric public transport fleet. The electric public transport fleet is powered by renewable energy generated within the Wellington region.
