Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, GB Age Friendly Award

The monthly award in conjunction with Age UK Barnsley recognizes a local organization or business. Qualifying candidates develop services that make navigating daily life easier for elderly residents. Early recipients of the Age Friendly Award included a grocery store with a telephone ordering service and an outreach program by community college students. The borough introduced the award to encourage local partners in their efforts to better serve seniors.
