Durham County Council, GB supports EV use with Scaling on Street Charging Infrastructure project
Forty percent of county residents live in housing without off-street parking. The SOSCI project studied how the council and its partners could encourage electric vehicle use among these residents. Project partner Mer installed 150 public charging stations at 67 public locations throughout the county. EV drivers use the Mer app, online portal, or charge card to pay for their energy consumption. SOSCI's potential extends beyond ownership to carshare clubs and fleet upgrades.
