Kildare County Council implemented GeoCollect, an innovative GIS-based mobile app, to efficiently capture and verify commercial activity data across the county. The app enables fieldworkers to collect real-time geospatial data on business locations, types, and vacancy rates, replacing outdated paper-based methods. By integrating with the council’s existing systems, GeoCollect enhances decision-making and fosters collaboration among stakeholders to boost local commerce.

Kildare County Council, IE connects cyclists with local businesses through Cycle Cafe program
County officials worked with local business owner Sean Fogarty to replicate his original Cycle Cafe in other locations. Twelve businesses throughout the county formed the first cohort of Cycle Cafes. Approved businesses offer restrooms, food, and beverages to passing cyclists. Bike repair stations at Cycle Cafes allow for on-the-go tune-ups and fixes. Kildare County Council searched for applicants located near local destinations of interest to cyclists.
