The city of Mesa implemented an open, wide area network, cloud-based building automation system using the Trane Ensemble platform. The system was designed to conserve energy usage in city buildings by optimizing the times and temperatures of the facilities throughout the year particularly during record heatwaves.

Mesa, AZ places digital kiosks in downtown locations for better communication with visitors
Ten CityPost kiosks from Smart City Media are stationed near light rail stops and popular destinations in Mesa. Each kiosk includes two 55-inch touchscreens displaying real-time transit alerts, destination maps, and public service announcements. Kiosk users find content translated into commonly spoken languages and access additional content through a companion app. Mesa officials tout the kiosk's selfie feature for visitors who want to capture their downtown experience.

Mesa Cares for Small Business is available for free to local businesses. The platform connects users to more than 50 consultants familiar with financing, marketing, and e-commerce. Business owners can request free PPE for staff as they reopen their operations. City officials handle applications for CARES Act funding through the platform. Members also have an online forum to share tips and additional funding sources with each other.
