The project involved implementing water and energy saving initiatives and providing major buildings with real-time data on energy consumption and better control of temperatures and airflow. The project is 100% funded from the savings derived from implementing these initiatives.

The City of Miramar launched a Mass Notification Platform to disseminate city-wide or neighborhood-specific emergency notifications with the push of a button. The emergency notifications such as boil water alerts, weather advisories, and road closures are sent directly and instantly to residents via text messages, emails, and voice calls. The new platform replaces the previous system which relied on social media and other non-universal less efficient communication channels.

After two years, the city decided to expand its body-worn camera program becoming the first in the country to include civilian members of the department. The city expanded the program to include Code Officers and Community Service Aides to build trust with the public because they can be easily confused with sworn law enforcement officers.
