West Torrens, SA strengthens local economy during pandemic with Think, Buy, Be Local Campaign
The campaign offered $100,000 AUD in vouchers to spend at locally owned businesses. Benefit recipients and vulnerable residents qualified for vouchers in the program's initial round. West Torrens offered vouchers to the general population once priority sign-ups were completed. Participating businesses are documented on an interactive map. Each resident who qualified received one $25 AUD voucher expiring on June 30, 2021.

West Torrens, SA educates public on green infrastructure with Rain Garden Interpretive Trail
West Torrens produced an interactive map with a narrative about the council's 10 public rain gardens. Each garden on the map includes photos, an explainer on native plants used, and a description of challenges and benefits. The gardens were placed at speed bumps, medians, and parking lots in local suburbs to filter stormwater before it returns to waterways. Council leaders created the interpretive trail to promote active travel and indigenous plant use.

The "What's local to me?" map includes pinpoints for local restaurants open during the outbreak. Restaurant owners provided revised hours, online ordering options, and delivery services to the council. Residents adjust the map to show neighborhood clusters of available restaurants or filter by name. Council personnel added 12 base map options to the tool including topographic and overhead imagery.
