Nottingham and Vivacity started the 219-sensor network at the intersection of the A6514 and Aspley Lane. This initial installation combines sensor data on current traffic with AI-enabled analytics for optimized signal timing. Smart intersections elsewhere in Nottingham will also use Automatic Number Plate Recognition and active travel insights. Local officials will gain citywide insights into traffic types and trends following the nine-month installation process.
