An initial six-month trial at the Redland Bay Marina was operated by Bay Islands Car Share. Four public parking spots were reserved for car-share vehicles. The operator reported a doubling of car-share memberships and a 60% increase in rides each week. Council officials selected Bay Islands for a two-year expanded pilot with eight reserved spots. This program increases parking turnover and decreases congestion in a high-traffic area.
