Aberdeen City Council, GB guarantees apprenticeship interviews for care-experienced young people
Aberdeen City Council created a new policy to reduce barriers to employment for care-experienced young people. According to the permanent agreement, any care-experienced young person, between the ages of 16 and 24, applying for an apprenticeship role at Aberdeen City Council will be guaranteed an interview. The Council is also developed support mechanisms for these individuals including an information portal which provides access to advice on internships, careers, education, volunteering, etc.

Aberdeen City Council, GB installed intelligent lighting system with remote dimming and monitoring
Aberdeen City Council installed an intelligent lighting system which can be controlled, dimmed, and monitored remotely. The project included 3,500 controllers which were retrofitted to existing LED street lights and added to new LED lamps throughout the region. The units are part of a configuration management system connected to the cloud which allows for smart remote solutions. Remote dimming and monitoring allows the Council to reduce energy costs and increase the efficiency of repairs.
