The Johnson County Commission passed a new stray bullet ordinance which fines residents $1,000 for careless discharging a firearm. The ordinance covers bullets that leave the proximity of a private property or any gun discharged within two miles of a school. The new violation was designed to promote public safety particularly in unincorporated areas of the county.
