The council will hire up to 26 temporary cleaners and maintenance workers for six-month contracts. Each project worker is unemployed or financially diminished by the COVID-19 outbreak. Cleaners ensure that frequently touched surfaces in public spaces are sanitized to prevent community transmission. Repair teams are tasked with fixing outdoor benches, replacing inefficient lights and water fixtures, and renovating public buildings.

Council operations Working for Victoria team working hard

Council’s new part-time Working for Victoria staff are making a big difference to the health and safety of our communities. By far the most visible sign for the community of the Working for Victoria (WFV) employees would be their involvement in the regular cleaning of frequently touched surfaces in shire open spaces and streetscapes.
