Charlotte, NC Battery-Electric City Bus Pilot Emission-Free

Charlotte Area Transit System and eTransEnergy will test battery-electric buses during the pilot. Buses from three manufacturers are slated to join the fleet in 2022 and operate across the city for up to 18 months. Charging infrastructure, data collection, and staff training by eTransEnergy leverage the Duke Energy subsidiary's expertise. City officials will select a preferred manufacturer at the pilot's conclusion as part of a zero-emission fleet goal by 2030.
