Whitehorse, VIC draws residents to shopping centers for community events with Activate Whitehorse
Nonprofits and community groups in Whitehorse can reserve five Activation Pods at three shopping centers. Each Pod can be reserved for up to four consecutive days for speakers, classes, and workshops. Whitehorse offers up to $1,000 AUD per group from its Booster Fund to cover event costs. Council leaders introduced Activate Whitehorse to break down barriers between local businesses, nonprofits, and residents upon reopening from COVID-19.

Local residents accepted sustainable living challenges through GreenBe's GreenMoney app. Challenges ranged from reading articles on environmental issues to cycling or taking public transit to work. Successful challenges led to points redeemable for vouchers, movie tickets, and free admissions to participating venues. The three-year pilot allowed Whitehorse to evaluate how to mobilize the community for eco-friendly lifestyles.
