Dublin City Council, IE tests quantum encryption to future-proof public services

Dublin City Council hosted Ireland’s first government use case for quantum-secure communications, successfully trialling advanced quantum-based encryption on the city’s existing municipal fibre network to protect public services from future cyber threats, including those posed by quantum computing. By combining quantum key distribution with next-generation classical encryption, the trial proved reliable performance and aims to build resilience for sensitive government data.
