Unincorporated ACT, ACT initiates first electric vehicle-to-grid pilot in Australia
Unincorporated ACT, ACT Vehicle-to-Grid Pilot
Fifty Nissan LEAF EVs joined the ACT fleet as part of Realising Electric Vehicle to Grid Services (REVS). Each EV features a bidirectional charger that sends excess power back to the national grid when parked. EVs can help regulate grid supply during demand spikes with 70% of vehicle time spent connected to chargers. Future iterations of REVS may also reward fleet owners for supporting the grid. ACT officials hope that REVS can help the government achieve net-zero emissions by 2045.
