Waimakariri District Council, NZ audited kerbside recycling bins to reduce contaminates
Waimakariri District Council, NZ kerbside recycling audit
Waimakariri District Council conducted an audit of kerbside recycling bins to reduce contaminates. Residents received information packs reviewing common rubbish items that are non-recyclable along with an updated recycling bin lid sticker. Auditors left a flyer explaining whether the household bin was "spot on" or "could do better" but badly contaminated bins were not collected. Residents that continuously placed rubbish in their recycling bins had their bin removed but were still charged.
