King County, WA Lean Management Streamline Reduce Costs
King County combines frontline employee training with process improvements for better services. The Finance and Business Operations Division used Lean practices for property taxpayer sentiment measurements and a more efficient purchasing program. Trained staff members developed new methods for Medicaid enrollment and psychiatric evaluations in the county jail. The Executive Services, Public Health, and Transportation departments accounted for 60% of Lean efforts through three years.
