Paterson, NJ COVID-19 Food Insecurity Index At-Risk County

The city's data team identified six key metrics for measuring food insecurity down to the census tract level. Each tract is assigned overall and category scores from 1 to 10 including unemployment rates, rent burden, and percentage of households with no vehicles. A color-coded map displays these scores along with local food banks that serve at-risk populations. Local and county officials used the index to concentrate resources during the early months of the outbreak.
