Bellevue, WA Communities of Color Initiative Racial Equity
The city manager selects a coordinating team of diverse residents to guide the three-year initiative. Team members spend the first year developing engagement campaigns on racial equity including workshops and surveys. City officials and the coordinating team will work with local organizations on racial literacy training for the entire community. Participants in Communities of Color will also recommend updates to the Diversity Advantage Initiative passed in 2014.

Plus, appointment to Human Services Commission On Monday, the City Council was presented with an introduction to the Bellevue Centers Communities of Color initiative. The effort is the result of recent budget approval for one-time funding of $150,000 toward a community-led initiative for racial equity and building trust and awareness across the city’s diverse population. The three-year proposal includes three stages:
