The city installed Bluetooth monitors at 900 intersections that collect data on vehicle speeds and traffic concentrations. City officials use real-time data to customize message boards with traffic times, preferred routes, and other details. Congestion monitoring allows Brisbane to deploy police and emergency personnel in response to accidents. Brisbane became the first government in Australia to use this system.
