Edmonton, AB GBA+ and Equity Toolkit Zoning Inequities

Edmonton and The University of Alberta researched how zoning bylaws reinforce social inequities. The resulting Gender-Based Analysis+ and Equity Toolkit recognizes historic and current issues during the multi-year zoning bylaw review. Participants use the toolkit's Compass document to evaluate how regulations can apply equal treatment to all residents. Community members and city officials will use the Canadian-first toolkit to measure equity in new bylaws after implementation in 2022.
