Nashville, TN uses LiDAR to capture near-miss traffic data
Planification
The City of Nashville has started installing LiDAR devices to capture near-miss traffic data to enhance safety for drivers and pedestrians. Unlike cameras, these devices map objects three-dimensionally without capturing personal images, allowing for anonymous data collection. This initiative, funded by a $2 million SMART grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, aims to identify potential hazards and implement real-time safety measures.
