Pima County is replacing precinct-based polling places with new vote centers and e-poll books. By replacing the polling centers where in-person voters had to cast ballots within their precincts voters will be able to cast a ballot at any location. The Pima County Elections Department is partnering with TENEX to replace the paper process for checking-in voters with election management software that will use an iPad to print off a ballot specific to each voter's verified precinct.

The Pima County Department of Information Technology partnered with the Pima County Public Library to assemble a digital inclusion taskforce. The taskforce is developing the “Strategic Planning Taskforce for Digital Access in Pima County” long-term plan to increase access to affordable and reliable broadband internet. The plan involves an $800,000 contract with Cox Communications to activate 130 free internet hotspots in underserved locations.

Pima County, AZ signs 10-year $26.6 million contract with Axon for police officer body-worn cameras

The Pima County Board of Supervisors has approved a $26.6 million contract to provide body-worn cameras for all 476 deputies and 417 corrections officers in the Sheriff's Department. The ten-year contract with the Scottsdale-based Axon Enterprise Company also includes 800 new Tasers and video storage services. The new cameras will have a livestreaming feature that automatically starts streaming to a supervisor and any deputy within a 30-foot radius when a gun or Taser is drawn.

The Pima County Assessor's Office created the Senior Property Valuation Protection program to help seniors save on property taxes. Homeowners can apply to the "Senior Freeze Program" in order to freeze the limited property value of their home for three years. Applicants must be at least 65 years old and the household income cannot exceed $38,112 for a single owner or $47,640 for multiple owners.
