Barnsley installed 15 charging stations capable of refueling up to 30 plug-in vehicles at the Smithies Depot. This investment coincides with the arrival of 29 electric vehicles for the council fleet. Departments with high mileage requirements like Highways and Pest Control will share the new additions. Local leaders worked with Sheffield City Region to plan 30 on-street chargers for public use. These efforts help Barnsley on its path to net-zero emissions by 2040.
