Arlington County, VA Safety Innovation Zone pilot
Arlington County partnered with US Ignite, Comcast, and the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative to launch a one-year pilot of a Safety Innovation Zone. The county is installing smart technology streetlight sensors which use heat, light, and sound to track pedestrian movements. The sensors cannot detect any personal information so pedestrian privacy is maintained. The real-time data collected will help the county improve crowd flow, emergency response times, and pedestrian safety.
