Bridgend County Borough Council, GB Outdoor Improvements COVID-19 Recovery Fund for businesses
Bridgend County Borough Council created the "Outdoor Improvements Covid-19 Recovery Fund" to support local businesses during the pandemic. The Council invited business owners with commercial property to apply for grants of up to £10,000 to make outdoor adaptations which enable social distancing. The grant provides up to 80% of the funding necessary for created external areas which allow customers to safely congregate, relax, eat, or drink.

Bridgend County Borough Council, GB created litter picking hubs to help volunteers tidy up
Bridgend County Borough Council created littler picking hubs as a base of operations for volunteers interested in tidying up their community. Each of the hubs contain equipment including litter picking tools, hoops, high-visibility vests, and trash bags along with health and safety guides. Volunteers can record their locations and the amount of litter collected online to showcase the overall progress. So far, the Council has opened four litter picking hubs and plans to create six more.

Bridgend County Borough Council, GB receives recognition for the most accessible website in Wales
Bridgend County Borough Council designed its website to meet the AA standard level requirements according to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. The Council integrated Browsealoud, a toolbar which allows users to listen to the website, to improve accessibility for users with dyslexia, visual impairments, language barriers, or learning difficulties. The Council's website includes simple emoticons on the bottom of each page which allow users to leave feedback on the accessibility features.

Bridgend County Borough Council, GB surveyed town centre businesses for COVID-19 recovery plans
Bridgend County Borough Council conducted a town centre businesses survey in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey included three questions asking local businesses to describe: how they adapted to trading during the crisis, what lessons they've learned during the crisis, and what suggestions they have for the support the Council can provide local businesses after the lockdown ends. The Council will use the information gathered improve plans to support local businesses after the lockdown.
