Cary, NC wireless control of traffic signals
The Town of Cary is launching a $2 million project to upgrade its traffic control system with IoT connectivity. By using the new cellular vehicle-to-everything network (C-V2X Network), emergency vehicles will be able to safely control traffic signals. The technology is estimated to save first responders approximately 10 seconds per stoplight. The project will add connected vehicle applications to 205 traffic signals, 100 school safety beacons, 15 pedestrian crosswalks and railroad crossings.
