San Antonio, TX begins new resiliency and sustainability fund with a cool pavement pilot

San Antonio, TX Cool Pavement Resiliency Sustainability

The program applies reflective treatments to half-mile stretches of local roads for surface temperature reduction. Five treatment types will be evaluated for their maintenance requirements and impacts on heat island effects. San Antonio and researchers from the University of Texas at San Antonio plan an equity study before test street selection. The $1 million cool pavement trial is financed by the city's Resiliency, Energy Efficiency and Sustainability fund.
