Sarasota employs AI-powered traffic safety cameras at key intersections

Completo

Sarasota has received an international Smart City award for using AI-equipped traffic cameras to monitor driver and pedestrian behavior at 16 downtown intersections, capturing data on speeds, near-misses, lane departures, and illegal crossings. The system provides 24/7 real-time insights to support the city’s “Target Zero” goal of eliminating serious crashes and injuries through targeted solutions like traffic calming, wider crosswalks, and adjusted signal timing.
