The Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) has signed an agreement with Austrian-based manufacturer Rosenbauer to purchase the first electric fire truck in North America. The Rosenbauer Revolutionary Technology (RT) will be customized for the specific needs of the LAFD and costs approximately $1.3 million. The Rosenbauer RT engine will have two batteries with a charge capacity of 100 kilowatt hours and the LAFD will equip the fire station with rapid-charging technology.
