The city of Greensboro's Department of Budget and Evaluation utilizes a participatory budgeting process to implement voter-approved projects every two years. This democratic process allows residents to decide how to spend $500,000 in city funds evenly divided amongst five City Council districts. Any resident over the age of 13 can submit their ideas, vote for which ones to fund, and volunteer to develop them into official projects in their neighborhood.
