Brisbane, QLD prepares for citywide adoption of curbside food waste recycling with pilot

Brisbane, QLD Curbside Food Waste Recycling Pilot

In Progress

Council officials selected 6,000 households along eight recycling collection routes for the pilot. Residents who opt into the program receive free kitchen caddies and program guides. Caddies are emptied into green recycling bins and separated for composting by waste contractor Suez. This program will divert an estimated 2,000 tons of organic waste from landfills. Participating households share their experiences with food waste recycling in recurring surveys.
