City & County of Cardiff Council, GB Multi-Stream Recycling
Local officials are evaluating how a multi-stream process impacts landfill waste and recycling rates. The council selected 4,000 homes across four areas for the trial. Each household received free containers for the separate collection of bottles, metals, plastics, and fiber-based waste. Collection teams maintain these streams from weekly pickups through processing. An online survey offers opportunities for participants to share their experiences with the new process.
