Fraser Coast, QLD builds on recycled water successes with new tree farm aimed at carbon reduction

Fraser Coast, QLD New Tree Farm Recycled Water Carbon

In Progress

The 28-hectare Christensen Plantation uses 100% recycled water from a system first created 25 years ago. This project adds 30,000 trees planted by Aboriginal workers including species new to council farms. Hardwood trees at the Christensen site help Fraser Coast offset local carbon emissions by 10,000 tons by 2035. Council officials also supported the new farm to reduce effluent entering Hervey Bay that can impact the Great Barrier Reef.
