The city is implementing a comprehensive smart city initiative with a focus on the city’s key priorities of disaster recovery and response, building and school safety, and more efficient, capable transportation, the initiative currently includes 22 planned engagements.
The city is collaborating with residents on future flood mitigation after the devastation seen during Hurricane Harvey. This project includes methodologies for flood hazard modeling, investigating green infrastructure mitigation, and evaluating flood impacts on infrastructure.
The Greensboro Transportation Authority bus riders can track their bus route via an app or internet browser. The app gives up to date times for the next bus at almost 1100 different bus stops. The GTA hopes the ease of the app will encourage more citizens to use the bus system.
This project fromt the Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development provides an online location for listings and applications for all affordable rental opportunities funded or overseen by the city. This program replaces the previous system of affordable rental lotteries.
