Kansas City, MO "tiny homes" homeless shelter community

Planning

Kansas City is planning to develop a "tiny homes" community to provide temporary housing for 200 homeless residents. If approved, the city will spend approximately $1.7 million on 95 pallet houses. Each house would provide 64 square-feet of living space with heat, air-conditioning, windows, and locks for two people. The "Verge" community would share communal bathrooms, showers, laundry facilities, meals, case managers, security, medical services, transportation, skills training, etc.
