Twenty-five households participated in the pilot from June 2021 to September 2021. Each household purchased a subsidized composting kit including a composter, counter bin, scale, and tracking sheet. Mount Pearl and the Multi-Materials Stewardship Board used self-reported data along with survey responses for program evaluation. City officials approved a second round of the pilot in 2022 with kit purchases refunded once participants complete their required reporting.
