Norfolk, VA is working with a national data analytics company on a data analytics tool that will help residents making better decisions before, during and after a flood.
The goal of this project is to move first responders through intersections more efficiently especially in congested areas. The county will equip emergency vehicles with devices that alert upcoming traffic lights which will turn green to allow continous movement despite traffic.
The city is collaborating with residents on future flood mitigation after the devastation seen during Hurricane Harvey. This project includes methodologies for flood hazard modeling, investigating green infrastructure mitigation, and evaluating flood impacts on infrastructure.
