Örnsköldsvik, SE Eco-Friendly Coffee Container Pilot

Municipal leaders and the Swedish research institute RISE are studying recycling behaviors during the three-month pilot. Patrons of seven participating cafes pay small deposits for paper containers with QR codes. The Bower app allows participants to find nearby recycling containers and scan codes for deposit returns. Örnsköldsvik will use survey responses and app data to determine how best to promote the circular economy.
